On your first day in L.A., the director of the L.A. Film Studies Center will tell you that most people who "make it" in Hollywood are insiders. The good news it, now you are an insider! As you daily trek to your internship, whether it's for a producer or a talent firm, you'll think about how cool it is to be part of an entertainment kingdom run by legendary names. Even better, though, you are there as a representative of God's kingdom, and that kingdom has more influence than Miramax at Oscar time.
Internships are a way to bridge both "kingdoms." The following is a sampling of the companies where previous LAFSC students have served as interns during their stay in Hollywood:
- 20th Century Fox Casting - the casting office for all of Fox feature films
- Focus Features – “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Lost in Translation”
- Henderson Productions - Owned by Gary Marshall, "Pretty Woman," "The Other Sister," "Runaway Bride," etc.
- House of Representatives – A talent agency representing actors in film and television
- The Humane Association – The company responsible for monitoring the care of animals in production
- Icon Productions, Inc. – Mel Gibson's company, "Braveheart," "The Passion of the Christ," etc.
- Film Independent – A non-profit organization fostering the independent film community, FIND organizes the Independent Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival each year.
- Jersey Films – Danny DeVito's production company, "Man on the Moon," "Erin Brockovich," "Living Out Loud, etc.
- June Beallor Productions – Documentaries, etc.
- Lakeshore Entertainment – "Next Best Thing," "Autumn in New York," etc.
- Larger Than Life – Gary Ross’ company, “Seabiscuit,” “Pleasantville,” etc.
- Lightstorm Entertainment – the production company of director James Cameron, "Titanic," "Aliens," "True Lies," etc.
- Miramax Films – "Pulp Fiction," "Good Will Hunting," "Chicago," “Cold Mountain”
- Mr. Mudd – John Malkovich’s company, “Ghost World,” “The Dancer Upstairs,” etc.
- Scott Free Productions – Ridley & Tony Scott’s company, “Kingdom of Heaven,” “Sahara,” “Gladiator” etc.
- Shady Acres Entertainment – Tom Shadyac’s company, “Bruce Almighty,” “Patch Adams,” “Ace Ventura,” etc.
