Rebecca is the director of the L.A. Film Studies Center; in addition, she is the director of the City of the Angels Film Festival and has participated as panelist, emcee, co-producer and head of panels over the last seven years.  She is on the planning committee for Reel Spirituality, a think-tank for filmmakers and theologians sponsored by Fuller Theological Seminary.  Rebecca speaks on film, culture and theological issues at Reel Spirituality, Act One (faculty) and at various conferences and colleges/universities.  She was on the revision team for the book Reel Spirituality and has written a chapter for an edited book on film and theology through Baker academics.  Before coming to LAFSC, Rebecca was the principal and executive director of an inner-city Christian school.

Rebecca is the pastor of Tribe of Los Angeles, a new church across from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Screen Actors Guild.  The church ministers to artists, filmmakers and graduate students.  She is an ordained pastor.  As an elected official, she is co-chair of the Arts and Recreation Committee in the area where LAFSC is located.

The entertainment industry has heavily impacted Rebecca’s family.  Her husband David Raven is a drummer who has made well over 1200 albums as a session musician, mostly in the secular music scene.  He writes, drums and sings for television and film, produces albums and plays in numerous bands.  Their daughter, Jacqueline, was the subject of the 1999 PBS series, “Senior Year,” in which the camera was an omnipresent houseguest.

Rebecca received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota.  She holds a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary.  She has been married to David for 32 years.  They have three of the greatest kids ever: Nolan, married to Magda, Jacqueline, married to Doug Tipton, and Simone, who is working with an orphanage in Ethiopia.
